Rules & Regulations

The following Rules and Regulations have been established by the Whitman Swim Club’s Board of Directors for the safeguarding of its members, their guests, and for the protection of their property.  Since each member has a vested interest in the safe and healthful operations of the Club’s facilities, it is essential that these Rules and Regulations be observed.

The pool may be closed at specific times because of special activities. Advanced notice of these activities will be posted by manager's office.

  1. No Pets of any kind will be allowed on the grounds.
  2. Bicycle riders shall park their bikes in the designated area. Bicycles thrown on the ground and parked out of the prescribed area will not be tolerated.
  3. NO GLASS articles of ANY KIND are allowed on Club grounds. The Management reserves the right to inspect coolers, bags or any containers to enforce this.
  4. There shall be NO LOITERING, CONGREGATING, OR VISITING near the entrance or in the gatekeeper’s or manager’s office.
  5. Children with SWIMMIES MUST STAY in the SHALLOW END of the pool and MUST BE ACCOMPANIED by an ADULT, who is IN the water…AT ALL TIMES.
  6. No loitering, congregating or visiting with the life guards or socializing with the life guards while on duty. Interfering with the life guards in the execution of their assigned duties is strictly prohibited.
  7. The BABY POOL is limited to children under six years of age.
  8. Babies in disposable diapers are NOT PERMITTED in either the main pool OR the baby pool. Babies in regular diapers and plastic pants are permitted in the BABY POOL.
  9. Only ONE PERSON at a time is allowed on the diving board. All dives must be executed in line with the diving board. Swimmers completing their dive must exit the pool via the pool ladders on either side of the diving area.
  10. AT NO TIME WILL CHILDREN BE ALLOWED TO JUMP OFF THE DIVING BOARD TO A WAITING PARENT.
  11. Swimmers must wear regular bathing suits.  No cutoffs, shorts etc. may be worn in the pool. This is by order of the Board of Health.
  12. Profanity or Fighting will NOT BE TOLERATED, ANYTIME or ANYWHERE.
  13. Pursuant to the State Board of Health…SHOWERS ARE REQUIRED before entering the pool.
  14. Use of the pool is STRICTLY PROHIBITED when there is NO LIFE GUARD PRESENT.
  15. NEITHER MEMBERS OR GUESTS with skin rashes, abrasions, sores or infections of the skin or respiratory tract will be allowed in the pool. If in doubt, please see the Club Manager.
  16. SMOKING IS PROHIBITED except in the designated smoking areas.
  17. Violations of posted rules is reason to eject or otherwise restrict a person or group from using the facilities for a period of time specified by the Club Manager. The Board of Directors may also REVOKE OR OTHERWISE DENY MEMBERSHIP to those who do not conform to the Rules and Regulations.

  18. The Pool Manager has FULL AUTHORITY granted by the Board of Directors for the interpretation and enforcement of all Rules and Regulations of the Club.
  19. Life Guards have COMPLETE AUTHORITY to enforce all Rules and Regulations of the Club.
  20. During SWIM TEAM PRACTICE and at SWIM LESSONS, ALL PERSONS ARE LIMITED TO THE IMMEDIATE POOL DECK AREA. Members (especially children) are not to wander the Club Grounds, or play in any area other than the immediate pool apron areas. 

WHITMAN SWIM CLUB POLICIES

The following policies have been established by the Whitman Swim Club Board of Directors for the Safe Operations of the Club’s activities and the fair/efficient conduct of Club Business. These policies may be added to, deleted or modified by a majority vote of the Board of Directors.

  1. In case of an emergency (weather or natural causes), the pool will be closed by the Manager until conditions warrant its reopening.
  2. Upon entering the Club, all members must sign in, present and surrender their membership cards to the gatekeeper. It is your responsibility to get your cards back upon your departure.
  3. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult (18 or older), who will be responsible for his or her well being.
  4. The Club has no facility for the checking of valuables.  Please do not bring them, as the Club will not be responsible for any articles lost or stolen.
  5. Domestic help, baby sitters or nursemaids acting in that capacity will not be permitted to accompany member children unless they themselves are members.
  6. All Guests must be signed in and ACCOMPANIED by a member in good standing.  Member children may bring an adult guest who will be responsible for that child’s care and behavior.
  7. All children twelve years of age and under Must take a swim test before going beyond the roped off area of the pool. Swim Bands must be worn at all times.
  8. If a member has a problem with the operation of the Club, that member should first bring it to the attention of the Manager.  If warranted, the Manager will then bring it to the attention of the Board of Directors. If the problem is with the Manager, the member has the right to bring the problem directly to the Board.
  9. Anyone wishing to run classes and/or programs at the Club, must first obtain written permission from the Board of Directors. The program will be run under the Board’s guidelines.
  10. No one under the age of 18 may join the Club without an adult family member also joining. 

  11. In the event of an accident:
    1. Call the Manager or Assistant Manager Immediately.
    2. Contact parents or guardians.
    3. Secure names and addresses of witnesses.
    4. Complete accident report immediately.
    5. Parent or guardian will send form to insurance company and follow-up themselves.
